New developments in Brno and the region

19. February 2025

When talking about Brno and South Moravia as a destination for conferences and events, we often get asked: What’s new in development? Are there any new hotels or conference venues on the way? And it’s no surprise – capacity and modern infrastructure play a key role in determining whether a destination can succeed in the competitive MICE tourism market.

“South Moravia has long been a leading destination for corporate events and large industry congresses. Plans for new projects will certainly make our region even more attractive while also expanding capacities that are increasingly in demand,” says Eliška Křížová, Project Manager at Brno Convention Bureau.

That’s why we carefully monitor and map out planned projects that could shape the future of event hosting in the region. From new hotels and apartments to conference halls and venues for cultural events – every new addition helps elevate South Moravia to the next level, ensuring we can meet even the most demanding requirements of conference and event organizers.

What new developments are coming to Brno?

Clarion hotel: A new four-star conference hotel from the CPI Hotels portfolio is being built near Brno’s main railway station, with completion scheduled for the second quarter of 2026, according to a source from the hotel group. The hotel will feature a modern, multifunctional conference hall for 800 guests, meeting rooms accommodating over 100 people, 180 four-star standard rooms, 20 executive rooms, and a rooftop wellness center.

NYX (Leonardo Hotels): Another planned development set to enrich Brno is the lifestyle NYX Hotel from the Leonardo Hotels chain, which will be part of the Dornych project (located in the former Tesco space). The hotel’s opening is scheduled for mid-2028.

Hotel Slavia: A hotel in the historic center of Brno is undergoing extensive renovations, expected to be completed in 2026. Once reopened, it will offer guests not only modernized accommodations and services, but also a unique opportunity to explore its mysterious underground.

Arena Brno: A new multifunctional hall, part of the Exhibition Grounds complex, will provide the city with top-notch facilities for hosting sporting, cultural, and conference events for up to 13,000 people. Its opening is scheduled for 2026.

Janáček cultural centre: Janáček Cultural Centre, located in the very heart of Brno and set to become the new home of the Brno Philharmonic, will offer not only exceptional acoustics for concerts but also multifunctional spaces ideal for conferences, congresses, and other social events. With a main hall seating over 1,000 people, the centre is poised to become one of the key players in Brno’s MICE tourism landscape.

Other exciting projects in the region:

Belcanto resort: The resort set to be built on the site of a former agricultural complex on Valtická Street in Mikulov will feature 67 apartments, accommodating up to 136 guests. They will have access to multiple pools, a wellness area, saunas, whirlpools, a restaurant, a café, a wine shop, and even a dedicated winery building.

Family & spa resort Turold: On the opposite side of Mikulov, the Volarik Capital group is planning an ambitious project. It will feature 150 luxuriously furnished apartment-style rooms, a swimming pond, a heated pool, and a separate wellness area for both children and adults.

Design & wine hotel Konšelé: Volarik Capital’s second project is the transformation of a former winery building on Bezručova Street in Mikulov into a design hotel.

Lacina Winery in Velké Pavlovice: On the outskirts of Pavlovice, coming from Zaječí, a new complex is being developed. It will feature a restaurant, a conference hall, a wine shop, a wellness zone, and, most importantly, more than 30 luxury apartments.

Nové Mlýny – Vinohrádky: A complex with 39 self-service apartments is planned to be built at the lower Novomlýnská Reservoir. The site will feature an electronic reception, and staff will only arrive on-site when needed.

Wellness at DCM hotel: DCM Hotel & Selský dvůr in Strážovice is preparing to expand with a pool and a new wellness zone.

Břeclav Castle as a hotel: The idea of transforming the dilapidated Břeclav Castle into a high-quality hotel is still just on paper. The city is actively seeking investors and aims to support the development of accommodation suitable for business clients, as such a hotel is currently lacking in Břeclav.

Event organizers in South Moravia not only have a wide range of venues to choose from but also an additional advantage: through the Brno Convention Bureau app, they can provide their visitors with all the essential tips for accommodation, excursions, and culinary experiences. Last year, the South Moravian Tourism Authority received an award for the best electronic project in Czech tourism for this app.
